DotAsia organisation is the sponsoring organisation and registry operator for the .ASIA sponsored generic top level domain. DotAsia is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation incorporated in Hong Kong.
This organization is founded by a number of significants members from the internet community of Asia, Pacific and Australia
The applied domain name must answer the following criteria:
Only the whole trademark can be registered, it’s not possible to register a part of it.
The domain name’s minimum length is 3 characters, and the maximum length is 63 characters.
The valid characters are LDH (Letter Digit Hyphen) :
- Letters from “a” to “z”
- Numbers from “0” to “9”
- The hyphen (“-”)
The hyphen can not be the first or the last character of the domain name.
Spaces, special characters and punctuation (such as @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + = < > [ ] | \ /: ; ’ , . ?) are not currently acceptable. They can be replaced by the hyphen or removed.
The accentuated and special characters will be replaced by ASCII characters.
It will also be possible to remove terms like TM, SA, LTD... which qualify an entity, and more specifically, term ASIA appearing in a mark or a corporate name will be removed for the profit of the [.ASIA].
The character “&” can be replaced by “et”, “and” or “und”…
Punctuation and special characters can be defined with LDH characters (Letter Digit Hyphen) or with appropriated words which describe the character. For example, A+B could become “AandB.asia” or “AplusB.asia”.
Both of those ways would be acceptable, the decision will be taken by the agent of verification.
Because the punctuation is not acceptable, the registry .ASIA is aware that it could have many requests for a same domain name. For example, “A&BC”, “AB&C”, “ABC” could all become “ABC.asia”. In that case, if the applicants passed successfully through the verification process, they will be invited to participate in the auction. (See the attribution criteria).
